DLP® HDTV:
Intense high-definition
gaming.
Today's hottest games use advanced technology to engage the senses like never before, with detailed graphics, rich environments and heart-stopping action.
High-definition television (HDTV) technology will improve your game experience, and HDTVs powered by DLP® technology are especially suited to game play. All DLP® products are powered by the all-digital DLP® chip, which is composed of millions of microscopic mirrors that create an amazing picture that is precise, crystal-clear and full of color, so your games look true to life. DLP® technology is capable of enabling extremely high contrast ratios (up to 12,000:1), resulting in crisper whites, ultra-rich blacks and images that "pop" on-screen. The DLP® chip also has an ultra-fast 16-microsecond response time, making it ideal for action-packed and fast-moving scenes in sports and gaming. Finally, unlike CRT and plasma, DLP® technology is insusceptible to burn-in. DLP® HDTV simply has no tube, phosphor or other elements to burn in, so you can engage in hours of game play without damaging the screen.
DLP® HDTVs are compatible with all of today's most popular gaming consoles.
When hooking up your console to your DLP® HDTV, it's best to use component video equipment, as opposed to S-video or composite video cables. Component video is the technology most compatible with progressive scan (i.e., 720p and 1080p) HDTVs, and it gives your console the ability to display your games in the highest resolution possible. Many of today's games support full 5.1-channel surround sound in order to improve the user's experience and create a more realistic environment. Most DLP® televisions have the appropriate digital audio inputs to hook up surround sound, while others may require the use of a receiver to achieve surround sound.
DLP® HDTVs offer 720p resolution, and many are 1080p resolution (highest available).
The "p", for "progressive scan", means that the entire image screen is repainted at once from top to bottom, rather than odd and even lines, as is typical in older interlace technologies. This results in a higher-resolution picture, increased image detail and smoother action. Most of today's popular games use 720p technology to provide gamers with highly realistic action and environments. DLP® 1080p is the next generation of HDTV technology, offering 2 million pixels on-screen. As game technology continues to evolve, many experts predict that a wave of 1080p games will arrive in the near future, ushering in a new era of high-definition gaming unlike anything seen before.
